Proscenia Informational Posting
I am hoping that this new format is being well received at the other end of the wire. I've heard from a couple who have said they like effort and find it easier to read than the old e-mail text version. Any feedback would be appreciated.
I've added a short section to this posting about the advantages of professionally networking yourself within the media industry. I've also created a link to a featured "production studio of the week". I hope that by highlighting various production houses both in-state and elsewhere I can present an overview of the diverse work enviornments available.
As always, if you would like to be removed from this list let me know. Thanks!
FEATURED STUDIO:HOT PEPPER
I've been wanting to feature various studios that I've come across over the past couple of years and thought I would start with Hot Pepper, a Portland based firm that is all about design. Hot Pepper uses design to build connections, person-to-person, and business-to-business. They claim to be modern-day alchemists, with "...the proven ability to convert complex information into high-value creative solution". Hot Pepper produces video, web, print, and other media materials.

Networking - A Four Step Process
How to Network
Where to Network:
Some of the best places to network include association meetings, workshops, and other events. Here are three organizations in Portland that may serve as a good place to introduce yourself and get networked.
Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers Portland has a growing independent film community with a strong contingent ofworld-class animators and documentary and experimental filmmakers. AIVP usually screens something as a group, sometimes a completed work, sometimes a work-in-progress and, depending on the needs of the filmmaker, we have some sort of session -- critique, pats on the back, suggestions about marketing or distribution, grousing and commiserating. When/Where: Call for dates and locations. Contact: Beth Harrington, ,
Oregon Media Production Association A non-profit film, video and new media association offering a variety ofservices to its membership. OMPA strives to educate, to inform and to represent the large group of talented individuals who make up the film, video and multimedia industry in Oregon. Portland
Multimedia | Internet DevGroup (MIDG) Design, development, usability and the world of interactive media.Portland.Monthly meetings are scheduled where networking can take place.
'SHAKE-UP' CLOSES 3,300 INTERNET CAFÉS IN CHINA This summer a deadly fire in the area around Beijing University destroyed an Internet café, killed 25 people, and prompted authorities to close 45,000 establishments, of which 3,300 were never reopened. The fire was apparently caused by two teenagers angry that they were denied access to the café, but the disaster was used by police officials as a reason to shut all Internet cafés in China as part of what they called a "shake-up" to make sure that all such establishments were safe.
